Berkley Public Safety is dedicated to fair and legal treatment of all encounters with our department and within our community. During some encounters, someone may feel as if there was an issue with how an incident was handled or misconduct on behalf of an officer. We strive to provide the highest quality of service, and therefore allow for an open policy of reporting a complaint that will be handled within the departments policies. Each complaint will be investigated into its merits and handled accordingly.
If you need to make a formal written complaint, download above a copy of the Complaint Form. Non-Formal notifcations may be made to the acting supervisor by coming into Berkley Public Safety and notifying us. Please understand that non-formal complaints or anonymous complaints may not allow us the proper information to conduct a thorough investigation.
Also, anyone making a false statement against an officer in a complaint could be subject to filing a false police report depending on the accustation. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at 248-658-3380
Berkley Public Safety may offer follow up that an issue has been addressed or how changes may be made and the findings of the investigation, but will not discuss the terms of any discipline, if warranted.
From time to time, residents and visitors have positive contacts with our Police/Fire Fighters and want to send a message to the Chief of Police of their kind acts. You may do that in the form of a letter, note or complete this form and drop off at Berkley Public Safety. We will then review and share the good news with the officer and the Community through Social Media if approved for such purpose.
Please provide the information below if there is a special officer you want to thank.
