In 1998 Berkley Public Safety Officer William Alford began a program to provide free Bicycle Helmets, a Bicycle Rodeo Safety Course and Bicycle Inspection. The event would be held in June and brought in 80-120 kids each year. In 2008 in conjunction with the Berkley Public Safety Golf Outing, the event was moved from Berkley High School to the Berkley Public Safety parking lot and also run the same weekend as the Art Fair.
Since then, Berkley Public Safety is providing 400-500 Free Bicycle helmets each year to kids from Berkley and surrounding communities. Our goal is to make sure kids are safe when learning to ride a bicycle. Kids are taught safe maneuvering in our parking lot, bicycle inspections and registration. We also make sure they go home with a BRIGHT T-Shirt showing off their pride for the Berkley Community. This event could not be completed without our SPONSORS!
Come Join us next year in September 25th 2021 from 10am - 2pm at the Berkley Public Safety Department
