NOW ACCEPTING 2026 CITIZEN ACADEMY APPLICATIONS
The Berkley Public Safety Department is offering a 7-week Citizens Public Safety Academy for Berkley residents and business owners. Classes will be held every Tuesday, from January 13th until March 3, 2026 from 630pm - 930pm. This will be held at the Public Safety Building at 2395 W. 12 Mile, Berkley.
The Citizens Public Safety Academy provides an opportunity for resident to become familiar with the mission and operation of the Berkley Department of Public Safety. The intent of this program is to provide information that will help participants know what they can do to support efforts to maintain a safe environment in the City of Berkley.
The academy is available at no charge, however participants must attend all class session to earn a certificate of completion. To qualify for the Citizen Public Safety Academy, resident must be 18 year or age and have no criminal record. Space is limited to the first 20 eligible applicants on a first come, first serve basis. Also note that:
- Academy applicants must sign a waiver and undergo a criminal history background check before classes begin.
- The dress code is jeans or khakis and athletic type shoes. Participants will also receive an academy issued T-Shirt.
